What Is There to Do During Thanksgiving in Yosemite?
From outdoor adventure to dining to pure relaxation, we have it all and the choice is yours.
What to Expect from the Weather
Yosemite National Park is incredible any time of year you visit, but in the fall, evergreen trees provide the perfect backdrop for maples, oaks, and dogwoods when they turn vibrant shades of gold, red and green. If you're visiting in late November, pack cold-weather gear and plenty of layers, so you are prepared. Daytime temperatures usually climb to the 50s and drop to the 30s overnight. There may be snow at higher elevations, so be sure to check the park’s website for road conditions and closures.
While Yosemite Thanksgiving weather is chilly, there’s a peacefulness that is truly something to experience. And once the leaves fall from the trees, it’s easier to spot wildlife such as foxes, bears, and deer.
Hiking, Biking & Fishing in November
Although many of the waterfalls are dry during this season, fall is an ideal time for hiking in Yosemite National Park. Take a photography walk at Yosemite National Park to capture these views in all their glory. Biking is a popular pastime this time of year since the trails are not as crowded. November is also a great time for fishing in Yosemite. While lake and reservoir fishing is open year-round, river and stream fishing starts in April and concludes in mid-November.
Crowd Level in November
The crowd level is generally lower in the fall, but is Yosemite crowded on Thanksgiving? Travelers do take advantage of the time off during the Thanksgiving break to experience the park, so you may see more people than you might expect. Still, it’s not as crowded as it is during warmer months.
